My dereat hubby known as
Zen, McMoo, Red Snapper, and Mooman sadly passed away 3 Aug. He will be missed by all those that knew him and his wonderful music, so talented. I'm devastated. He fought a rare cancer for a year but it knew all the moves. Rock Chick. x

I'm sorry for your loss.
I remember him, and I remember he posted a lot of guitar info. I think he was "Dr Guitar" occasionally.

Rock Chick, sounds just like the situation with my late Beloved ..... and it's only 4+ years later that I am now trying to put his music onto YT - maybe that's a project for in your future? I feel for you.

Oh my God! I am so sorry to hear this. He was a lovely man and I shall never forget your kindness and hospitality when I stayed with you both last year. I had no idea that this was happening. My condolences to you. What a thought that I will never hear him play again or share his affable company. This comes as a terrible shock to many people.

Oh, that's such a shame.

I first met Richard at the 2004 Eurogathering in Barrow on Humber and then thouroughly enjoyed the 2005 Eurogathering that he hosted in Niort, France. Met up again in 2016 for a musical weekend in Llanstock.

A really nice guy. So sad to see him go. My sincere condolences to you Rock Chick

Regards,
Doug Chadwick

I am so shocked and saddened to read this, Shelagh- I had no idea he was poorly, and was hoping to arrange another musical get-together as we did a couple of years ago in Llanfair Caereinion, before too long :( :( :(

So many happy memories of Mr McMoo at Mudcat (and other) gatherings past, including his and Lady McMoo's hospitality in Brussels in 2002, in the days when we uploaded our pics to Mudcat:
scroll down for nice pic of the man himself

We must make some music in his memory!

A good man gone. Moo goes back to the golden age of Mudcat. A wonderful contributor and I am better for my exposure to him. Fair winds and following seas, my friend. Rock chick, I am sorry for your troubles.

Yes, very sad news! I remember him from many Eurogatherings (Münster, Brussels, Groningen, Barrow upon Humber, Niort) and two Loughstock (Portaferry) gatherings.

A very nice man and a very good musician gone ...

Hello Andreas! Good to hear from you, even for such a sad reason.

I've been looking through the photos of Gatherings past, wondering what everyone is doing now.

Hope you are well.

I was Mooman's Secret Santa in 2004...and "guilty" of sending chocolate to Belgium.

This is sad news, my heart goes out to you, Rock Chick. I'm Curmudgeon's widow...there's a good support group of widows here.

I wish you music and peace.

He shares his death date with Roy Williamson. Strange how these things cluster. Two of my friends died on Aug.8 - 20 years apart.

Oh hell, I'm really sorry to hear this Richard was one of the good guys, great musician good and considerate company too.
He came up to Scotland to one of my Highland Gatherings, and I too met up with him at the Niort weekend, which was a blast.
Damn, I can't bloody believe it.
So sorry Shelagh.

More than sorry to hear this dreadful news, Shelagh. Thanks for the link on FB, Noreen, I so seldom have time to even go there, let alone here.

One of the things I remember most vividly of the Brussels gathering was the quality of the coffee that Mooman and Lady McMoo served. Richard accompanied me to the shops and I brought home some fantastic organic Brazilian coffee. I was in my workshop the other day, and found that very tin, which served as my coffee stash in my office for many years, until it was downgraded to the workshop for being a health hazard. I took a picture of it, full of paintbrushes, and have been meaning to send it to Richard.

And now it's too late.

What a lovely, peaceful, talented man he was.

RIP

On one of my very rare logins, I cam across this terribly sad thread. Moo and I would message every so often. We met several times, Shelagh and Richard came to stay with Dawn and I on Orkney when we lived there, had a great time, it went some way towards repaying the kindness extended when I went to Brussels. A fine man.

Indeed he was. It's one of the ironies of fate that the last time I saw him and Shelagh, I didn't know that I had pancreatic cancer myself. If there is something on the other side, he is one of those whom I will seek out first!
