Reading the obits, I find that I saw Chas twice, with Mike Berry and the Outlaws, and with Head Hands and Feet. Possibly again with Cliff Bennett.

Pretty safe to say that his music will not be forgotten for a long, long time.

RIP

We used to pile into the Bishop Bonner in Bethnal Green in the mid-70s to see them in the days before they got famous. You had to fight your way in! I don't think it's even a pub any more.

You'll find their albums in carboot sales these days. They oughht to be treasured. Nevermind the songs that got popular, listen to the other stuff they did. Music Hall, Cockney, Old Time, Comedy and Singalong songs that everyone else has forgotten. I absolutely loved them. A national treasure.

Not many people can claim to have devised a unique musical genre, can they? I enjoyed seeing them several times.

With apologies Leadfingers, but the pop side of folk music.
If folk music is the music of the people, then Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock are genuine folk musicians.
Rock in peace Chas.
Roger.

Sad news although we knew Chas was ill, really enjoyed their music since I first saw them in the pubs in London many years ago, great memories.
