Chord Req: Arabella

From: GUEST,threelegsoman

A friend sings this song for us at our sing-around sessions from time to time and I wondered if anybody knows who wrote it and/or performed it and what chords go with it?

Arabella

Many times and many islands, sandalwood and seaweed diamonds,
Silver chains that lovers wear, coral patterns in her hair.
Many forms in many places, mesmerise the sailor’s faces,
Yellow beads and turquoise rings, when Arabella sleeps, she sings.

Chorus

Arabella moves and dances, on the rock pools’ crimson edges
Arabella’s hair blows high, wild along the seabird ledges.
And in the morning when the reef is warming,
You may see her riding, rising, falling, luring your embrace.

Many fears and many dangers, touch the lips of careless strangers,
Cruel eyes that mirror wine, amber, jade and crystalline.
Know her for her season’s daughters, keep her on your starboard quarters,
Tell her that your steps may ride, another place, another time.

Chorus

Many times and many islands, sandalwood and seaweed diamonds,
Silver chains that lovers wear, coral patterns in her hair.
Many forms in many places, mesmerise the sailor’s faces,
Yellow beads and turquoise rings, when Arabella sleeps, she sings.

Chorus

Hi...

I have a vague feeling this song may have been written by Ken Campbell, of The Pennine Folk. I've certainly heard them sing it many times, at Hyde Folk Club, years ago.... Not sur re chords though... will research...

Thank you Spot. I have worked out an accompaniment based on my friend Kate's acapella singing of the song, but as hers is the only version I have heard, I am not sure of its authenticity.
I have just looked up The Pennine Folk and found the title Arrabella (two "r's") on their LP Manchester Morning, but no audio of it.
At least I can now attribute the song to its author.

I have the song on an album recorded by The Peak Folk in 1976
Beautiful song and lyrics.
If there are any chords out there I would love to learn this.
