BS: If you can't beat them join them

By joining, all you need to do is not critisize and shut up.
Only others will pay with their lives.

Merkle is out. Right wing forces have doubled in Germany. Poland has a right wing growth of 40%. Other countries in Europe are close to no change.
Brazil is now under a new right wing President shoulder to shullder with Trump.
We know where Russia and China stand.
In the event the US falls under the right wing Trump iron curtain - that leaves Canada as a bastion of Democracy.
Where Britain stands sounds shakey and certainly without US support it is lost to right wing forces.
The largest Democracy is India but I am sure they will do the expedient thing.

Oh well Democracy was only an experiment by Masonic, slave owning founding fathers.
It does not mean that bearded bruce must be your best friend it only means people like him will be in charge.
Be like Joe, he has good practice.

This shift began with the 2008 finacial redistribution. Where it ends is up to each of us.

I call myself a "radical moderate," but mostly I don't like to be fit into boxes. I find most times that neither liberals nor conservatives can figure out what I'm about. The conservatives think I'm a horrible liberal, and the liberals think I'm a traitor to the cause.

I spend most of my time trying to think from the perspectives of other people. In discussion, I like to explore things from as wide a variety of perspectives as possible. I rarely take positions until I have to take action, and this frustrates the hell out of people who are more closely tied to an ideology. And even when I'm in the course of taking an action, I'm apt to stop and reassess from a variety of perspectives. My primary goal is to try to find a meeting point, a place where opposing sides can come together. This isn't a popular goal these days, so it tends to get me in a lot of trouble. But I keep believing that there must be a meeting point.

This Trump phenomenon has me stumped, however. People that I like very much have bought into this position, and I'm finding it very difficult to converse with them - even though I may have found it quite easy to tale with them in the past. Some of them were quite progressive at one time, but now it's like they're zombies, controlled by the Mind of Trump. They get very nervous in the presence of questioning or conflicting ideas, or even when I ask them for explanation of their thinking.

In many situations, I refuse to take a stance. That makes people very nervous, and they don't know whether they can trust me because they're not assured that I am on "their side." It's kinda like when I go into a store, and the sales person asks if they can help and I respond, "No, thanks, I'm just looking around." And then they think I'm casing the joint to shoplift or something, so they tail me nervously from a distance.

But I just keep looking around and exploring various perspectives, and people get very impatient with me and keep waiting for me to make a decision and take a stand. But I don't.

That's the problem with the grey zone Joe.

I didn't understand the reference to "optics." Apparently, it's something the synagogue shooter posted on a social network site - "Screw the optics, I'm going in."
Can somebody explain?

Donuel, I will agree with you that there is no "meeting point" with ideologues on the extremes, but I think that most of the rest of us can come to a working consensus. That consensus may not satisfy everyone to exact specifications, but it should fulfill the basic needs of most people.

Maybe we need to learn to let go of exact specifications and learn to live within broader limits. If we could learn to be a little less fussy, maybe we could learn to live enjoyably with a wider spectrum of people.

On 'optics' there are two possibilities:

1. The sights on a rifle - maybe he wasn't going to bother taking careful aim, he was just going to fire indiscriminately.

2. The term 'optics' has been used lately to mean the impression made or likely public reaction, 'how things appear to other people' - in which case he wasn't bothered what anyone else would think of what he was going to do.

These are the dangerous times I hoped was over when Hitler was defeated.
The slow boil and murder of Blacks, Jews, Gays and Democrats is our largest terrorist threat. The meanness of withdrawing health care from the infirm also parallels the third Reich. A year ago the threat of war with Korea did not go as far as the threat of civil war in this country with 300 million guns.

Don't get hung up on the rhyming catch phrases. They are just brain droppings in the absence of dialogue.

Right now Trump is giving permission as opposed to giving orders to the armed and dangerous. He has raised the veil and proudly proclaims he is a Nationalist. There is no room for doubt, joking or excuses anymore.

Donuel will disagree with me, but I still think that humor is one of the most effective tools for keeping Trump in line. Saturday Night Live has been consistently good, as are many of the covers of Time Magazine [the best Time covers are this series (click)]. Trump hates to be laughed at.

The National emergency now includes false claims of small pox and leprosey being carried by caravans of immigrants and a presidential order being used to change birthright in the Constitution. I just stuck my neck out just enough to post this on facebook:

President Trump is now set on negating the 14th amendment of the Constitution of the United States by executive order. The rationale given is the wording "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" in the amendment. That wording sets apart people who are in this country with a status of diplomatic immunity.   Other non-citizens in this country, legally or otherwise, have never been constitutionally exempted from the enforcement of the laws of our country.

From: Joe Offer

Trump is planning to negate the Constitution by executive order? Certainly, the citizenship-by-birth portion of the 14th Amendment is more clear and definitive, than is the "right to bear arms" portion of the Second Amendment.

But I suppose Trump just wants to win seats in next week's election, and won't bother with his executive order after that. Although, I suppose he could issue his executive order right now along with his "middle-class tax cut," and the voters won't figure out his fraud until AFTER the election.

I guess you see things differently, Mossback. These are tough times. If we obsess over them, the negativity will overwhelm us and break our spirits, and we will succumb to cynicism and anger. I'm afraid you've succumbed, and you feel some need to stalk me and bring me down with you.

I prefer to do what it takes to survive all this. To do that, I have to deal with the negative in constructive instead of destructive ways, being certain to seek out the positive side of life that continues to exist despite our dire political situation.

I am surrounded by trees and wildlife and blue skies, and by people who sing and laugh and enjoy each other. They are all still as beautiful as they were before Trump became President.

"Those people are scary."
You can say that again, and not just in America
Ireland has just had a referendum to elect a President, usually fairly friendly affairs - the last three have elected three of the finest, two superb women leaders, Mary Robinson and Mar Macaleese and the present incumbent, a gentle, principled man, Michael D Higgins
Michael D's first election was fine but this one was a somewhat dirty, mud-slinging match contested by among a few others, three 'Dragons Den' panellists (I'm assuming our American cousins know of this appalling, backbiting TV Show) - Higgins was targeted viciously by the three and by sections of the media.
A lat minute entry was Peter Casey, a returned Yank, a Trumpite millionaire who, as a returned Irishman, does not pay Irish taxes, who 'went populist' and decided to attack Travellers (the usually tolerant Irish people's Achilles heel), unfortunately; he then went on to attack the 'sponging "state dependency" section of the public, the less fortunate who are forced to seek state aid in order to feed their families.
This rang a bell with our rednecks and Casey's support sprang from an estimated 2 percent to the final figure of 22 percent on election day – thankfully, Higgins romped home with overwatch half the vote – but next time…..! BUT NEXT TIME !!!
Ireland is being targeted by the extreme right; Farage has been campaigning for Ireland to "Eire-exit' from Europe and American religious fundamentalists, having funded the Anti-abortionists and those wishing to keep the blasphemy laws (both failed thankfully) are now supporting medical 'refuseniks' who do not wish to adhere to the result of the pregnancy termination referendum
MORE EVIDENCE OF WHAT'S HAPPENING TO 'HOLY IRELAND'
