I know this is a sensitive matter , but I have a question , what is Trump going to do with 22 thousand military people in US ? what´s coming ..if not how is he going to pay them all after the time abroad ? Or is some thing going to happen in the Middle East , why so hurry to bring them home ? what is Israel doing , and then it´s this , he has time till midnight tomorrow to get this done https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6516379/Trump-says-not-sign-Democratic-legislation-doesnt-perfect-border-security.html

I am just wondering around in my mind , I guess Trump is to involved to Israel , so they won´t take him out , as they did to Kennedy in the past , but I wonder why Republican party is putting up with that man .

but this is just my wonder´s ....

have a great Merry Christmas .
all the best .

It could be he is finally reacting to the fact that US troops in both Syria and the Yemen are there in defiance of International Law. Syria is proving to be a step too far after destroying Libya and Iraq.

In the US we are not free to discuss the assassination/killing of a President even symbolically. Kathy Griffin was in a photo of her holding the severed head of Trump and faces charges up to and including life in prison.

Kathy Griffin is still selling "Fuck Trump" merch, including Christmas ornaments. She's doing OK these days, but had a rough patch.

If someone shoots Trump, we get Pence. Maybe better, maybe not. The incoming Congress will be able to control him somewhat, and some of the Republicans may be growing a spine, even if it's only out of a sense of self-preservation. I don't see that we have any realistic option but to hang onto our hats for the next couple of years, and hope the toddler doesn't blow up the world.

In an illegal attempt to ban asylum immigration the administration claims they do not have the resources to process any more immigrants.

An asylum application must demonstrate two things to satisfy this requirement: The applicant must show that the reason the persecution that is being done is because of being in one of the five protected grounds (race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a social group).

Applicants must have many documents including passport, national identity cards birth certificate and more.

Soon applicants will have to prove with documents that they are persecuted for all five factors. Victims of violence, murder and domestic abuse need not apply because they are automatically denied entry.

They're going to tray to shut down Meuller, and I don't know what happens if they do that. Obstruction of justice charges? How does that happen? I think what Trump is trying/doing involves too many lower layers and organizations to be successful. It WILL work long enough to make some people's lives miserable, tear families apart, and kill the odd 9 year old girl.

Nobody is better off now. (Except rich people.)

Senator Lindsey Graham S.C. is one voice opposing bringing home US Syria/Afghanistan troops. Too a lot of senior politicians are against it, both dubmblecrats and rebublicans. I think losing General Mattis is a really bad idea, because he is a rock of solid common sense.

So yeah. too far is too dangerous to international peace.

Well, President Trump is not forever.
He can't even do what FDR did, and serve four consecutive terms --
not allowed anymore.

The question remains, when he finally leaves the Oval Office,
what else will have been taken down?
Will this still be one nation, under who knows what,
or will US society be well and truly in pieces?

With the departure of Mattis,
the New York Times reports that
the rest of the world sees the USA in an entirely different way.
As in, "you don't get to have it both ways..."

The next president is going to have to fix a lot of stuff as they move forward. And fix it so well that another despot can't come in and enrich himself and his family like some of the worst faux-democracies or dictatorships around the world. Legislate the transparency of finances, taxes, etc. and make it law that a blind trust must be established.

When is it that the Old Congress leaves office and the New Congress takes over? The 20th Amendment says that the new Congress takes office on January 3, and the President on January 20. That means the boys can come back after Christmas and do a little more damage before their terms expire....

The old Congress will not be in session again.

In May the Trump military parade will be attended by many dozens of fanatic supporters and will not be compared to the Hitler parade after destroying the Treaty of Versailles, but rather the 2016 inauguration which was huge beyond belief.

Pedant strikes again: Roosevelt didn't in fact serve four terms. He just got elected four times.

It strikes me the whole idea of an executive President is a pretty daft idea. It seems to work out far better having a ceremonial one like many countries do. Then if they turn out to be crazy it doesn’t really matter too much. And it doesn’t,t see to make any difference if a ceremonial head of state is elected or hereditary either.

Subject: RE: BS: Get rid of President Trump.
From: robomatic

McG of H:
Isn't that a distinction without a difference? For every ceremonial position there is a power position, and that is all one needs to be crazy in.

Or are you arguing that a crazy PM is easier to deal with in a Parlee-alimentary Structured Government?

For all I know, that may be true.

Ah, one of my most vivid memories of taking a university course
in some category of government history.

The subtle and wry professor presented the paradox with the polish
of someone who presents it every term, rain or shine. He said:

The majority of first-world countries have a head of state and they have a head of government, and they are two different people with two different jobs.
For example, the constitutional monarchy, which has a queen or a king, as the head of state,
and also has a prime minister as the head of government.
Another example,
the country which has a Madame le premier ministre, that is when le premier ministre is not male for a change,
and has a President who is the head of state.

You know what's odd, the professor said?
The United States only has one individual as
both head of state and head of government.
The other first-world countries aren't like that;
the other countries that have one individual doing both functions
tend to be dictatorships

--pregnant pause:
"But that doesn't mean anything."
Swift change of subject,
and I sat there, in the back of the classroom,
with red lights flashing in my mind's eye.

It rings ominously true today.

Precisely. Getting rid of a PM is pretty straightforward. Getting rid of a President is a lot harder.

Also, if a ceremonial Head of State goes crazy like Trump, it wouldn't really matter too much. Likely enough it wouldn't even be noticed, and if it was it'd probably be seen as just amusing, though some people would object to being embarrassed.

Thatcher was frighteningly sane. But skewed. She was fixated on a vision and stuck to it. Trump goes off in any random direction according to which side of the bed he got out of.

everything IS relative, is it not!

"a rock of solid common sense," says one opinion on this thread,
referring to the General nicknamed "Mad Dog."

"a model of common sense and restraint," says one opinion, however sardonically, on the television celebrity whose apprentice successes included the late Joan Rivers
and who "fired" Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth as she was then.

The previous post did not use the words
"impulse control"   but that is how I sum up the opinion of Trump
in the post before this one.
And I agree about Thatcher being fixated and stuck.

One more thing:
I want Hilary Rodham Clinton to stay alive and well.
We need her and we need her working for us, and working hard.
For that reason I don't want Mrs. Clinton in the Oval Office --
she would never survive mentally, even if she survived physically.
But then,
I agree with that chestnut opinion, which I won't say correctly,
that anybody who wants the Oval Office job
has to be out of their heads anyhow.

To be honest I think Thatcher felt like a nightmare, an unfolding nightmare. And the madder she got - the more her followers (and there were millions,   of them. many of them with impressive degrees, - all the tags of civilisation and education) loved it.

I felt she changed our country into county hell. And the strange thing is - all the people from our class living in our part of the country felt the same. and we all voted out in the referendum - because although Thatch pretended to despise the EEC, she used its regulations to flatten the bastions of union power - the car, the mining, the steel, the rail industry. utter arsehole!

she was like that all the time - she used to pretend to want stuff, like the reintroduction of capital punishment. even though she must have known it would have sent the NI situation off into the stratosphere.

I see Trump as a bit of a swaggering villain. But compared to Mrs T, he seems guileless.

What is bad is the limited and type of knowledge Trump relies upon. He is a cash flow investor of a small family business compared to the big boys like Marriot and large Casinos. He also believes that for him to win demands there is a loser. Humiliation is an unneeded part of his business equation.
This does not bode well for foreign policy or Allie formation. It also allows for corruption, lying and bribes to be part of his business model.

Trump either doesn't understand trade, or deliberately misrepresents it. A couple of days ago he was saying that if tariffs stayed in place, "China will be paying us lots of money". For those government workers out of work with no pay check it is actually illegal for them to get another job anywhere. It would have to be reviewed by an ethics committee and the ethics bureau is shut down.

You may hear that all missed salaries will be reimbursed but there is no existing Congressional law that guarantees that. In other normal times Congress helped reimbursements but these are not normal times.

Lies are being spewed fast and furiously by White house cabinet figures and the President but no one knows if a national emergency can be based on an obvious lie.

IRS forms are unavailable to people seeking to mortgage a home. But buying homes with cash is OK. It is ironic to expect border agents to work for free or dangerous to have air traffic controllers volunter to work for free.

By this weekend the Trump shutdown will be the longest shut down in history.

How many will quit is unknown.

Mr. Laufman chief of counter intelligence for the FBI has written "now is the time for all good men and women come to the aid of their country." after the NYT exposed the fact that the FBI opened an investigation of Trump being an agent of Russia.

He is gently introducing the obvious to the people of the US who are about a year behind the information curve. Although Trump says "I never worked for Russia" he may be a useful idiot for Putin or a stupid dupe via extortion and bribery or a spy for Russia in return for profit.

"I never worked for Russia" is the 'I am not a crook moment' in history.

Correction: CNN: Trump denies Peloski military aircraft for warzone trip.

“In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate,” Trump said in the letter.

“We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the Shutdown is over,” he added, noting Pelosi and the other lawmakers were free to make their own travel arrangements “by flying commercial.”

An astrologer with a public website --

has an opinion (professional, after all) on the presidency.

The message in Trump's own personal chart, says the professional,
is that Trump is not the boss, but the hardworking employee on the job.
Working for ... somebody else.
The boss is not Trump, but whoever put Trump to work in the first place.

That's a scary idea.

I do not want to be specific.

"Let Me Finish," the new book by Chris Christie
who was ousted from the Trump White House staff,
outlines amongst other things
the reason that Mister Ivanka cannot stand Chris Christie.

Ivanka's father-in-law, Jared Kushner's father,
was prosecuted by Chris Christie when he was
New Jersey State Attorney,
found guilty, and sentenced to serve hard time.
I just never heard that sordid tale before,
but it is documented and everything.

So these are the personalities of the vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Hillary had it pegged 30 years ago.

The man who has taken Chris Christy's book off the best selling list as well as Michelle Obama's book is McCabe, former FBI counter intelligence chief who opened an investigation to determine if Trump was/is a Russian asset. Trump fired him 26 hours before McCabe would qualify for benefits. Obstruction? Attempt to Obstruct? that's ok they both carry the same sentence.

There is nothing Donald Trump could do that would be egregious enough to get the Republican controlled Senate to vote to remove him from office. Though many Republican senators would possibly be happy to have Mike Pence be president, his ascendancy would leave the vice presidency vacant. That would leave Speaker Of the House Nancy Pelosi next in line to be president. If Pence were to die before a new VP nominee could be confirmed, Pelosi would become president. And there's no guarantee anyone would be confirmed to succeed Pence as vice president. The nomination would have to be approved by both houses of Congress and the Democrat-controlled House would be happy to stonewall until a new VP is chosen by election in 2020.

If the Republicans still controlled both houses of Congress, getting rid of Trump in favor of Pence might be a remote possibility. The order of succession would still be Republican all the way down. But with Democrats in charge of The House and Pelosi currently third in the order of succession, it's simply not going to happen.

Republican senators are willing to put up with anything Trump does or says because having him in office minimizes the chances that an untimely stroke or heart attack might result in a President Pelosi.

Had a very unpleasant five-minute experience during my holiday in Sicily last week. Was on my way down to Isola Bella on the hotel shuttlebus, finding myself sat between a Scotsman and an aged yank who was sporting a silly red baseball cap, weird multicoloured socks and a John Bolton moustache (no, it wasn't him).

Yank broke the silence with "I see you have our president in London right now."

Much uncomplementary but almost inaudible muttering from Scot.

Sez I, in attempted jocular vein, "Yeah, we'll keep him if you like but it'll cost you..."

Awkward silence.

"We like him..."

Scot virtually erupting...

"Anyone but Hillary, we say..."

Glad I was sat between 'em...

"She's a piece of work, she is. Even her husband would've been preferable..."

Never witnessed such a concentrated clutch of conversation-stoppers in my life...

Seems a fair case to be made that Pence would be more dangerous than Trump. He is a militarist, a climate change denier, and moved in circles where they genuinely believe that starting a war in the middle east would usher in the Rapture. Trump pays lip service to this shit as it sits well with his electors, Pence seems to genuinely believe at least some of it.

”Well I have been accused in these columns of insensitivity towards Americans, so, you may say that, but I couldn't possibly comment.”

David, I’m not saying all Americans are superstitious fuck-wits. Far from it - I worked, for the final 13 years of my working life, for an American company based in Houston TX, and I spent a significant amount of time working over there, so I’m aware that there are good, sensible, nice Americans as well as horrible, superstitious, fuck-wit Americans.

But the fact of Trump’s election, and the belief many seem to hold that “The President was aaaaaww-dained bah aa-a-almighteh Ga-a-a-ad”, (as one informed me very forcefully!) suggests that there are a significant number of Americans who fall into the latter category.
