I'm curious to see if anyone has any theories as to what it is. The closest I can describe the noise is like an air compressor running. It turns off when the power is shut down but then may start again randomly. It focuses on one radiator. in the study. Actually, in between starting this and now, the plumber has visited and come up with a plausible suggestion. And it may be fixed. Any ideas? |

Try a muffler by draping the culprit with towels or a small duvet, especially making a partial barrier between the radiator and wall. Should it be the cause the cure could be messy and require some replastering. |

He spotted a pipe was out of line with its clips (paint marks) and the theory is that it may have been dislodged by someone who was in the roof recently. The idea is that the "compressor" was amplified sound as the pipe was hitting a skirting board. Time will tell but maybe a quick cheap fix on this one with him just pushing the pipe back up. |

When I was first asked to investigate this one, the first culprit appeared to be Pip's/mum's computer and what she was listening to on youtube was questioned. But her PC box and the radiator, both in the study are very close. |
