A few years ago I heard a beautiful recording of 'Shule Aroon'/'Siuil a Run'/'Johnny Has Gone For A Soldier' and now I can't remember who sang it or on what album. For a long time I thought it was Tommy Makem and the Clancy Brothers or some subgroup of them, but I can't find it in their discography. It was definitely that style, though--a male voice, I think accompanied with guitar or banjo or something, but not heavy instrumentation; very acoustic. I'm hoping someone will be able to pinpoint this recording! Thanks in advance :) J |

Sung by Eamonn Toland backed by Malcolm Wray and Ian Stevenson (and possibly Joe McHugh but Joe would have to confirm). |
