11 Mar 19 - 04:23 PM (#3981543) Subject: Copyrighting an Australian song From: mg I have permission to record song but it is registered with APRA. I have been unable to get any response from them. Is that typical? How much is it to copyright a song for a cd of limited sales? Around 10 cents per copy in US. They have a live chat but have this capcha thing that you can't tell what it wants. i tried dozens of ways. Anyone made it through their maze? So far not as bad as Canada but..hope not. |

11 Mar 19 - 08:52 PM (#3981569) Subject: RE: Copyrighting an Australian song From: mg I am now in touch with APRA. Usually I try to figure out the copyright situation (eliminating most canadians unfortunately) but this one was a surprise during recording..someone just belted out a great version of it. |

Good luck Bugsy |

APRA spend most of their time collecting royalty payments and arranging the annual Music awards. Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society, might be a better bet for getting permission. 18 Mar 19 - 10:49 PM (#3983011) Subject: RE: Copyright permission for an Australian song From: mg Thanks. I was in touch with arpa and they said they could not do anything because it was not going to be produced in Australia so I'm going to see if I can just send the equivalent fee to the copyright owner. I am just starting my travel right now so could be a little bit complicated and because the person in question has a lot going on right now I might contact one of the Australians to maybe help me a bit |
19 Mar 19 - 12:08 AM (#3983015) Subject: RE: Copyright permission for an Australian song From: Bugsy mg, The US equivalent of AMCOS should reciprocal agreements with AMCOS where they collect copyright royalties. I'd be inclined to fill in the US Forms and await the re0ly from the US Authority. Cheers Bugsy |
