It would be great if the Florida Mudcatters could get together in Live Oak, while kendall is in attendance. harpgirl, paddymac, paul g., and I will be there. What a prime chance for us to actually meet each other in person. You'll be really surprised to see that I'm 5'11" and sylph-like, with blonde hair to my waist! Let us know if you need further information. You can contact us via personal message or this thread ... moonchild

If possible, we need to plan a February weekend. I'm in studio and on the road all of January. Also on the road the weekend of February 19/20. Looking forward to it!

Ah, how I wish I could that meet...When you all firm up a date I will better know how my schedule looks. We are currently going into the reenacting season and most weekends will be spoken for. There is a reenactment in Brooksville in January...on the weekend of the 14-15-16th I think. That will be the nearest I think I will be to Live Oak for quite a while. There is also a folk festival in Largo at Heritage Village sometime early in 2000. More on that as I get info....

I could be coming to Florida in February. Any good places to sing shanteys near Orlando/Palm Coast/St Augsutine? I intend to influence my kids ...

I confess to being a wee bit surprised that there haven't been more FL 'catters respond to this thread. I know of several completely lovable ordinary folks who are also very good musicians who frequently "drop in" to our collective "living room" and "listen" to our myriad conversations, but who have never gotten around to "officially" joining the family. I'm confident that I am not the only one who knows such folks, and I'm equally confident that there are many such folks whom I've not yet had the pleasure of meeting. So, I suggest that we all get busy and get those folks into our "official family", and think about upping the ante and turning Kendall's visit into an excuse for a full-fledged southern Mudcat "event", replete with T-shirts and kindred and such, and even a video. Everybody should polish-up their favorite trad or original piece(s) (i.e.; non-copyrighted stuff) and get ready to smile for the camera. We might even make enough from the video to buy a pint or two!

Absolutely not in Orlando area. KC King proved that. I couldn't even get people to join in on Roll Alabama. Seems the refrain was too hard to learn.

Well, put me on the list if something develops. I'm in Orlando.

Blackcat2: I don't recall meeting anybody by that name. Make contact if you wish. I'll be at the Spiral Circle tomorrow to sing some New Year's-mentioning folksongs.

Abby,

Maybe you needed to sing the DT (bawdy) version to get those Floridians' (if there are any left) attention?

Seriously, I'll help take over a pub if we can get a shanty night going ... provided my leave gets approved and Saddam stays out of trouble, I'll be over.

Cheers Brian

Hi all

On here I'm Blackcat2 in real life I'm Tom cook. I live in downtown Orlando and I agree there aren't many places in Orlando that welcomes trad. folk music.

I sing Celtic stuff and play spoons and other percussion. I am looking to hook up with any and all Mudcatters but I would especially love to get together wish Orlando area people interested in putting together some sort of Celtic/and other stuff group. I've been in an out of F.O.F.F and it's a wonderful group of folks, but I found little to connect with. I have a close friend who is interested in the same things I am, but he's a professional pilot and therefore, much of the time out of town - and he always has different schedules. He'd love to sit in when he can.

So keep me in mind. I'd love to be part of a FL Mudcat gathering too!

By the way Abby, I used to play with a group that met in K.C.'s front room 5 years ago.

See you sometime.

Hi there

Wednesday tunes what what I attend several years ago - great group of people but at least then it was all about instruments and instrumentals. I sing and don't play much in the way of instruments - a little tin whistle, jews harp, spoons, bodhran and the such.

Wednesdays are impossible for me anyhoo. . .

Paul...Hope to catch both your main stage and your River Gazebo performances. I'm playing with Dr. Sound and we will have at least one digeridoo song. I am excited about the different material we will be playing...Barry is a wonderfully creative person and when we play it's never "practice". harpgirl

harpgirl, I look forward to trying to meet you. We are looking to get there tomorrow early afternoon. We are hoping to try and get one of those electrical outlets, which we will surely share with any one else. JU, our banjo player, is still recovering from some chemo and radiation treatment, and having access to our air conditioner for a couple of hours a dahyh will help us out a lot. It's going to be interesting trying to find all of our regular camp mates with the new campground configuration. I can't wait to get there, only a couple of hours packing and a short stopover in Gainesville for a radio interview to promote the festiival stand in our way. I can't wait to ge there and soak in the atmosphere and get really big blisters on my poor bass playing fingers on day one and then suffer through three more days of really great music and good times. Any other of you players out there use super glue to extend playing time??? If not, it does the job, if so, I would love to know. Getting up at five am, packing, and looking forward to one of my favorite weekends of the year, Kristi
