Ev'rything is set; skies are blue. Can't believe it yet, but it's true. I'll give you just one guess. My sweet Lorraine said "Yes." Waiting for the time, soon to be, When the bells will chime merrily. Gee, but I feel proud! Want to shout right out loud: CHORUS: I've just found joy. I'm as happy as a baby boy With another brand-new choo-choo toy When I'm with my sweet Lorraine. A pair of eyes That are bluer than the summer skies— When you see them you will realize Why I love my sweet Lorraine. (I'm so happy!) When it's raining, I don't miss the sun, For it's in my sweetie's smile, Just to think that I'm the lucky one Who will lead her down the aisle. Each night I pray That nobody steals her heart away. Just can't wait until that happy day When I marry sweet Lorraine. 2. Oh, the sun is bright; life seems good, For she said last night that she would, There in the garden lane— I mean my sweet Lorraine. When that day in June rolls around, On our honeymoon we'll be bound. Can't wait till the day When I'll take her away. * * * I haven't found any recordings where the verses are sung, but there are many where only the chorus is sung. Here are some early examples, from the Internet Archive: Johnny Johnson and His Statler Pennsylvanians, 1928 Wingy Mannone and his Orchestra, 1937 Nat King Cole/The King Cole Trio, 1940 |

Sadly, I have it only on cassette and no longer have anything to play it on. I couldn't find their version on Youtube, but it did lead me to some other videos of them playing, which was a delight. |
