I just ran across a verse to "The Smugglers Chanty" from a book on the Prohibition Era:

From PROHIBITION –Thirteen Years that Changed America, edited by Edward Behr

The Smugglers' Chanty

Oh, we don’t give a damn for our old Uncle Sam,
Way-o, whiskey and gin!
Lend us a hand when we stand in to land,
Just give us time to run the rum in.

It would be nice to find the rest of this song. This song doesn't seem related to anything here in the Digital Archives. Maybe someone has run across it in another book on the Prohibition Era.

Cheerily,
Charlie Ipcar

Hi Charley,
There was a vogue for pseudo chanties in the mid 20th century. I think Guinness put out a book of them to advertised their beer. This one obviously utilises 'Blow the Man Down' tune and format. It may just have been an advertising jingle.
