Sad to hear this, what a great singer in a band that was known for their vocals, (in addition to their stunning instrumental prowess) the Seldom Scene. He also did some fine solo work and an album of honky tonk songs with Carl Jackson that I played to death.

Wait a minute, did I hear you say you’re going far away again (a soulful Seldom Scene song) - with Starling's vocal and guitar - Seldom Scene Smithsonian Recording (Wait a Minute)

The Scene's great warhorse with Starling on vocals way back when-

Another fine performer gone. The original Seldom Scene were great. Starling's first solo album was a cracker with a stellar backing lineup. It is one of my all-time favourite albums.
