Beautiful song. It's on my Fire Within cd by Libana. would really love to get the words without stopping and starting the darn thing.

Some of the words, I can get:

When the stormy billows roar, thou cans't spare?? me through

every passion cans't control

thanks, kat

Kat, I have the Fire Within songbook somewhere and will post the words as soon as I can find them, which may not be until next week as the book might be at school! It is a great song!

BTW Katmyluv.........Just south of Lexington, KY and not too far from your son is the Shaker community at Pleasant Hill. Karen and I have gone there on numerous occasions and it is simply beautiful and educational too. Lots of books for sale including songbooks. I'll send you some info on the place. 8 or 9 years ago, Karen and her grandmother spent a weekend there in the original buildings. You'd love the place. Wait a minute....

Yep...everybody got a website don't they? Here they are.

Pleasant Hill

Mainly associated with New England as you know, a lot of people aren't aware of the Kentucky colony. It did quite well and is now simply a beautiful place.

Just had a chance to explore that link, Pat. Thank you so much; the tunes are beautiful as wildlone says. what a wonderful and peaceful looking place. Makes me want to simplify and throw off thre trappings of modernity! Oh, and I am going to learn both fo those songs; alreayd know simple Gifts, but not all the way through.

Unforunately on of the Shaker's simple gifts was celibacy. All the stone that they used in building Pleasant Hill was quarried about 4 miles down in the pallisades of the Kentucky River. When Karen and I were there the first time, a guide was explaining the quarry work after just discussing celibacy. I couldn't keep my mouth shut of course and said, "Well, I know what they used to chisel it out.".......In the somewhat proper looking crowd, it got nary a laugh....and Karen was acting as though she didn't know me for some reason.

At last! Here it is!

ODE TO CONTENTMENT
Trad. Shaker

Come contentment lovely guest,
Reign unrival'd in my breast.
Thou alone wilt do.
Thou alone canst fill the soul,
Ev'ry passion canst control,
Shen the stormy billows roll,
Thou canst bear me through
