The Edinburgh one was enormous (though eclipsed by the independence demo later in the year). An endearing feature was the huge number of Americans present to tell NotTheirPresident to fuck off and die - lots of very clever placards only an American could have stood behind, and the only progressive manifestation I've been at where people were carrying American flags as a non-ironic statement, that their country deserved better. In fact there were so many there that I think this may have been the largest gathering of Americans ever assembled in Scotland. Presumably the same story in England this year - hardly any Americans who own a passport and have used it will have any time for that moronic fascist. |
