Thanks for the link, Guest Starship. My sister and family are involved in amateur theatre productions. I'm sure they will find some useful sound effects at the Beeb, although I'm not sure if they will need to investigate the licensing to use them.

Many of them are quite long... I saved a couple of short ones to use as sounds for PC notices, and will browse for others...

It's a fascinating resource.
