03 Jul 19 - 05:35 PM (#3999062) Subject: Mikey Clarke, UK journalist From: keberoxu Mikey Clarke, a journalist from the UK, reviewed the recently released film Yesterday by writing a parody lyric for the Beatles tune. I think it's charming. VERSE Yesterday Is the film that I'll review today; And I've got a lot I want to say, So, I thought, I'd do it this way. VERSE Trust in me, This is quite the triumph musically, The story justifies the ticket fee. Yes, Yesterday . . . won over me. BRIDGE It ... is ... set in a world, Where the Beatles don't exist. Just ... one ... guy remembers their songs: That's the gist ... of Yesterday. VERSE Himesh Patel, Quite the actor and singer as well; He's the guy from EastEnders . . . you couldn't tell. The perfect lead, in Yesterday. BRIDGE Now ... I ... have to say what is wrong: It's a tad too long. There's nothing ground-breaking here, But I'll still cheer, for Yesterday. FINAL VERSE Finally, Curtis writing us more comedy. Yeah, you'll walk away so merrily, Once you have seen . . . Yesterday. Again, the words are by one Mikey Clarke, "colleague" of Jeremy Ransome who writes for the Spalding syndicate at Iliffe Media. Here's the link. |

04 Jul 19 - 03:02 PM (#3999220) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Parody of 'Yesterday' From: WalkaboutsVerse I believe the Beatles should have got into their own English folk music (there was a revival at the time), instead of putting their skills into American pop. |

Suddenly...there's no entry in my di..ary For the Thursday or the ....Fri-i-day This Saturday came suddenly. Where two days could go, I don't know, I couldn't say, I remember............bugger-all since yesterday....... Which seemed like.............. Wednesday........still there's nothing else to say, At least I don't think so anyway....... Today was tomorrow................yesterday |
05 Jul 19 - 04:18 AM (#3999328) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Parody of 'Yesterday' From: GUEST,Jerry I enjoyed this film, and whilst it’s very good overall, it’s not nearly as brilliant as all the hype suggests (why do they do that, because you just end up disappointed?) Essentially it’s a one joke premise that I would have thought they could have got more laughs out of, but instead it descends into the well-worn rom-com formula (will they, won’t they?) Or maybe it’s just me... |

"... she didn't want people to see SPOILER growing old." But Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were thumbs-up, both sending messages of approval to director Danny Boyle. |
