BS: no more Mad Magazine

DC Comics is getting ready to phase out MAD magazine.
The periodical will disappear from racks and displays.
Online there will be activity still,
and on occasion,
previously published material will be sold with new covers.

But for the most part,
no new and ongoing content for MAD magazine.

The company, DC Comics, has confirmed nothing;
but some of the staff have taken to social media
confirming that the company has contacted them.

Regrettably, the website at NPR won't let me link
to the entire article,
but
here's what I can link to.

What will Alfred E. Neuman do now to keep the wolf from the door?

I guess it can't compete with the dross (and worse) I see on Fakebook.

Didn't realise it was still going after all these years.

"Mad was designed to corrupt the minds of children. And from what I'm gathering from the minds of people all over, we succeeded" - Al Jaffee.

Ifind it interesting that i can say that i wont miss it , when i made the same remark about froots [simply because i do not read it ] i am subjected to attacks, thankyou mad magazine readers for being more tolerant .

Farewell Alfie and Fonebone. I especially loved their parodies of popular TV shows and Movies, the art work and dialog was spot on. I still read it in the library from time to time and it's surprising how little it's changed over the decades.

The thread that he is referring to is one regretting the current suspension of fRoots magazine. Praise was being given to the editor for his tireless and seriously underpaid work in editing the outstandingly high quality publication when The Sandman pops up, admitting that he does not read fRoots but without the knowledge that a reader would gain adds:-
it is of no interest to me in any form or shape
Some posters objected to this, though it would be difficult to interpret this as being "subjected to attacks"

His first contribution here said:-
If I am allowed to remark. it is not a magzine i will miss

My opinion would be that when you have nothing of interest to say, it would be best not to say it.

No need to thank me, The Sandman, I was just ignoring your gratuitous negativity.

Dick - Mad readers probably care even less you exist..

.. A Mad reader's sophisticated sense of absurdist humour
means they can just chuckle quietly to themselves at your sporadic petty sulking fits...

There's no need for them to interact with you..
That'd just provoke you taking over another thread..

..oops.. what have I just done...!!!???

..sorry mates...

I've not read Mad since my school days.
A mate's dad used to buy it,
and my schoolmate would sneak copies out the house and smuggle them into school...

I used to see Mad Magazine on rare occasions at school. I recommend the Guardian as a possible substitute.

Spy vs. Spy was good, but Spy vs. Spy vs. Spy was classic.

One of the great all-time Simpsons episodes (Season 9, Episode 1) the family goes to New York City. Homer is trying to find his illegally parked car and visits (both of) The Twin Towers, Marge and Lisa experience Broadway (Stop the Planet of the Apes, I want to get off!) and Bart visits the office of Mad Magazine, and after seeing the real Alfed E Neuman, promises: "I will never wash my eyeballs again!"

There are still phrases we use (phrases we still use?) from Mad...

Those song-lyric parodies were works of craftsmanship,
somebody or somebodies worked really hard at those.
