Does anyone know this band/1976 album? Were they any good?

Found quite an expensive copy in the folk section of a shop with a 'no listens' policy today - it looks intriguing but I don't want to gamble on a duffer, ha ha!

I can't seem to find any info/tracks online, but I bow to the skills of more advanced Googlers than I...

I knew some of the band - David Kettlewell (no longer with us) and Richard Brecknock - many years ago in South Hampshire - David was a good musician (he did the musical engraving for the Copper Family songbook) and played all sorts old early instruments. Richard was a fierce Fiddle player (who played a little for my first Morris team in Christchurch). Considering the times - early 70's - they stood out.

Mainly Norfolk details the album. (And MN is a tremendous site btw.)

I have a copy of the LP, bought at regular price when it was still in print. It's a really good variety of material covering a long time span, very well played. If the price you are looking at is not truly outrageous, I think you should make this purchase. You're not likely to be disappointed.

Saw them several times at festivals and enjoyed them a lot. There's a copy of the album currently on amazon.uk at £25

I recall a band called Trotto winning a musical competition on TV in the early 60,s ? is it the same band.

The shop wants a lot of money for an album that may be warped, scratched or loaded with dust. Meanwhile, there are many fine recordings of early music available elsewhere for less.

How about you? Do you have money to burn? No debt? Retirement fully funded? If the album's ordinary, will you look at it and shrug over the waste of money?

"You pays your money and you takes your chances." This sounds like a risky chance.
