Warwick Folk Festival - July 2020-or not?

What's the matter in Warwick? According to their website "exciting things are going on". Normally "exciting" means "catastrophic". There were a lot of new construction sites for the last few years. Can it really getting worse.

As a regular for 30 years 2018 was my never go again one. Warwick Festival denied a main marquee as pegs could damage the rugby pitch killed it. Heatwave I recall, Why for gods sake could aerating the ground be bad after so many years with no problem! A 1600 venue through a building site reduced to 360 that no one could get into as a result. This resulted with the main site having the atmosphere of a village fete watching a small stage in the rain before we departed early on Sunday instead of staying. Shame on Warwick University, and all gratitude to Dick Dixon festival director though for so many years of engoyment

I don't know about the Warwick Folk Festival. I do know that Warwick University failed us in Placer County, California, outside Sacramento. They were supposed to have contracted to building a campus here, but it appears they have backed out.
I'm disappointed.

I was at Warwick again and enjoyed it ~ I got lots of positive vibes that the festival will be on in 2020 ~ yes there have been problems regarding building work and the festival but hope to enjoy 2020

The Warwick School was set up by King Edward - The Confessor. He must be revoking his confession now.
It must be supremely successful because it can afford to continually build more venues, for education, but not folk music. The Guy Nelson Hall is no longer called that but is a good dance venue.

It is a fee-paying school that the county have places for selected pupils enshrined in the constitution.

A new site will be welcome, and depending whether I dançon en Francais or save my legs for Sidmouth, I may do more than (say) the Sunday ceilidh. FWIW 30 GBP for one ceilidh is a disincentive though. Especially when the venue is outside the perimeter of the field.

Towersey has had to move locations because the Thame Showground has got mercenary and there is a question about housing in the future. As witnessed by a survey rivet at the entrance!

One of the problems in the last two years was that the nature of the building work meant there were more gates to man which created more demands on the stewards team.

A shame there is so much hassle as this is one of the few Midlands folk festivals to survive.

If you look at Warwick racecourse for next year there is a pretty big clue that it is on next year

Our school song used to have the line "semper in excretum" inserted in it.

If you hear rumours about Warwick FF being at the Racecourse don't hold on to them too tightly. The last I saw on their website was a hint that the chosen site was nearer to the town centre (than the school) and they were not stating precisely where they would be**. Currently the website is under re-construction, and choice of venue may be part of that.

**I seem to remember something about the Castle but can't check now.

There is a new website for WFF. And a new site for it, seems to be the Castle. Wow.

Look on What 3 Words (uses Google Earth) and you will see there is a car park field and well developed entrances and scope for marquees, I doubt it would be the island where they have pageants and a trebuchet, (with a fiery missile).

in fact the post code would allude to the the field. see
map.what3words.com ///solid.friday.memory
the portents are good! Hint Zoom out to see the scope for a festival.

Castle Park, Warwick. CV34 6AX No access from this road!
