Father Guido Sarducci was created, not by God, but by comedian Don Novello in 1973. He appeared regularly in person in the early 1970s on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In and later in the 1975 Smothers Brothers TV show. His most prominent appearances were on Saturday Night Live in the late 1970s, during which time Novello was also a writer for the show. His last known appearance was with Stephen Colbert in 2010. Let's hope he's not dead. We need him now, more than ever. What does Father Guido have to say about Trump and Boris Johnson? -Joe- |
