His first one a few weeks back was a triumph - almost three hours of uplifting and moving songs. 21 May 20 - 08:52 AM (#4054152) Subject: RE: Joe Solo - 'No Pasaran' Live From: Gallus Moll Off on a tangent, has anyone watched the documentary Nae Pasaran about the workers in the East Kilbride Rolls Royce factory who 'blacked' the repair of Hawker Hunter plane engines belonging to Chile during the overthrow and killing of Allende, instatement of Pinochet (Maggie Thatcher's pal), hellish treatment of the people of the country. It is a great film, made by the son of one of the journalists who managed to escape the country. Worth seeking out! |

And at Dunoon film festival a coupld of years later the film maker came (i am so bad at remembering names! Felipe Busto?) If is really interesting to see history that happened in your own lifetime, from the perspective of those who were involved in it!(as opposed yo the political spin put on by the UK establishment at the time). I found the film very moving..... have seen it several times now. Highly recommend. |
