Another similarly-themed song by Carll is "Bible On the Dash." Both songs are a bit critical of Christians who don't necessarily practice what they should preach.

I enjoy a lot of Carll's music; definitely a musician who's worth listening to.

Never heard of the song in question (until now), but it revived an old memory of a TV show called Exit 57 and this similarly-themed song.

My Wife Left Me For a Guy Named Jesus

I can remember, years ago, the song (minus the prologue) being used as a sort of music-video filler on The Comedy Channel, or something like it.
