27 Jun 20 - 12:18 AM (#4061603) Subject: Virtual Old Songs Festival 2020 From: CupOfTea The first part of this virtual festival substitute has been a genuine listening treat. Starting with Lou and Peter Berryman singing their tribute to Old Songs, and a first set by Sally Rogers & Claudia Schmidt, and on it went... Wonderful songs, memories of festivals past. It suceeds as a link to this fantastic festival. After the "concert" timespan was an interview with Andy Spence, then a "sing" at the Dutch Barn with recordings of folks leading sing alongs: Sandy Paton with "I'm a rowdy soul," Ian Robb leading "Old Rose and Crown" with a large chorus of folk who knew it well... and more... There are two more days of this, with new and archived performances, and repeat broadcast of some of it. This is all on Ron Olesko's Folk Music Notebook -a 24 hour internet radio channel. There are regular shows each week, when not doing this festival, an well worth it at any time, just particularly valuable this weekend. Joanne in Cleveland |
