29 Jul 20 - 12:04 AM (#4066363) Subject: Lyr Req: bawdy songs in Irish Gaelic From: GUEST A friend is looking, and can't seem to find any. Supposedly Colm Keane had a version of 7 Drunken Nights in Irish Gaelic on a field recording included in The Folk Songs of Britain, but I haven't heard it. Any other examples/ leads come to mind? |

It is the verse about the baby having whiskers. Hardly what I would call bawdy. What about Joe Heaney's song 'Cunnla'? It used to be available on a Topic LP, but I'm not too sure where it can be heard today. |

(and by the way, I love the air and would like to have a different set of lyrics in Irish to sing to it, if anyone can suggest something suitable) And there are lots of songs with erotic content, often quite subtle, which wouldn't be described as "bawdy". |

Only the Irish is given,no English translation." lyrics are at https://songsinirish.com/an-gamhnaichin-lyrics/ I'll have a look at it another day. |
