Irish folk singer, Anne Byrne had quite a few LP's that were released in the 1960's and some maybe into the 1970's. She also appeared on some of the Abbey Tavern albums, two or three perhaps.
I wanted to find out if any of her albums have been digitized or plans in the near future for this to be done? I would love to be able to buy in a
CD format, or even several albums put together as a compilation of her music on a CD.

I had read many years ago that there was an issue of copyright problems and that Anne no longer had ownership to them, (something to that effect)
Don't know if this in fact true, or whether it may have been resolved
by now? I don't know anything at all how an artist gets back ownership
to their music, (so they can proceed to release as a CD) if they so choose to do so, once it is in someone else's hands so to speak.

I've been looking on Youtube for Anne Byrne's version of the song,
"Willy O' Winsbury" but can't seem to find it.

If anyone can locate it, as I somehow may have missed it, please post.
It is on one of Anne's albums but just cannot find it on Youtube.
Thank you.

I have a number of Anne's recordings of ballads as MP3s in a collection of Child Ballads that were posted in USENET a number of years ago. If it would help, I could make them available in some way.

Looking carefully, I see it's only 5 different ones.

mg, that would be Suantraí Hiúdaí
I remembered Skara Brae (O Domhnaill family with Daithi Sproule) recorded that lullaby https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_jUaVwd9LY.

I haven't heard Anne Byrne's rendition.

Hello Bill,

You mentioned something on one of your posts called USENET.

I am not familiar with that name. Is is a music site and is it still around?

Thank you,
Lin

No... USENET often called simply 'newsgroups' is a 'bulletin board'. Many are text only, but many also allow 'binaries'... music and images and videos.

At one time one called alt.binaries.sounds.MP3.folk had LOTS of posts, and some places would archive posts for several years. Because of so many other venues, USENET has largely faded. The last post was July 10 of some stuff by Norman Blake.

So... I have a Dropbox folder. I will try soon to post the 5 songs I have there. I'll put up a link when I've done it. (You really ought to get a regular Mudcat membership so this could all be done privately)
