For the first time since we adopted Dreamy our greyhound almost 2 years ago, she showed me how fast she can run this morning in a secure field where we are staying on holiday - from standing start to full speed in just 3 paces, sadly all over before I could get my camera out.. She is now fast asleep on the sofa!!

A nice glimpse into the joy of running!

My non-greyhound dogs (a blue heeler mix and a pint-sized boxer/pit mix) nearly ran down a squirrel in the back yard yesterday. They were within a whisker of grabbing it before it shot up a tree. I don't know if they'd know what to do with it once caught; the outcome, even with inexperienced dogs hunting, would not be good for the squirrel. I think the instinct to shake it would come into play.

Ah yes, greyhounds shake toys and amost certainly squirrels given the chance!

There's a place near me labelled on Google Maps as a retirment place for greyhounds. It is quite clear on the satellite view that they have a track! (No sign of an electric hare, though.)

Interesting, I think they run races in their dreams, at least our Dreamy gives that impression!
