BS: Subway bread is cake, say the Irish

I love it. Truth in advertising and in taxes.

An Irish court refuses to exempt Subway's bread from VAT as it has so much sugar in it, it must be considered confectionary.

Blicky.

Good for the Irish. They know s*** from Shinola.

Has anyone tasted their bacon? It looks like bacon, barely. It is labelled bacon, mendaciously. It is manufactured as pulp, extruded to look a bit like.

And tastes like soap. So how do I know? Well ya gotta try it once. And only once.

The chicken is even less convincing. I’m fairly sure the lettuce is, in fact, lettuce.

I loved the bacon in Ireland.

I'm going to celebrate with some fish and chips.

I loved all the food in Ireland, even the black pudding that came with breakfast. Dinner always seemed to involve two kinds of potatoes, the seafood was to die for, I have never eaten better lamb anywhere, and every dessert came with lashings of cream.

Not cheap, mind you, and never fast. But my God it was good.

Oh, I don’t know. I’ve only ever found a couple of things I didn’t like about their sandwiches – the bread and the fillings.

Bainbo — HAHAHAHA!

Have you tried Subway’s version of soup? If not, don’t. It’s like a chemistry experiment gone wrong.

I went there once when I first got to Virginia because they advertised Fresh Made Sandwiches but I ordered a cheese steak and they took some pre-cooked meat out of a bin and I said That is not fresh-made it is only freshly *assembled* and I left and never went back.

I've only once eaten at Subway.

I was running late for a concert & the only other place open in the street was a crowded pub's bistro & I was very impressed at the cleanliness & use of gloves & tongs etc

Is this damning with faint praise?

sandra (who was annoyed the usual sushi place was closed!)

I don't go out of my way to eat at Subway, but there was a day in 2017 when several of us converged on the County Courthouse in our pink "pussy hats" and carrying signs to march to protest Trump's inauguration. We then walked back downtown to where we'd parked and stopped at the only restaurant available for a quick lunch. My daughter revealed that if you tell them exactly what you want in it and then have them run it under the broiler it comes out pretty good. It did involve a selection of fairly salty sausages and cheeses. We were hungry and in good company and it tasted good.

I daresay the event and the company were great seasoning for the sandwiches.

I am finding it hard to believe that nobody has commented along the lines of "And let them eat it" yet...
