03 Oct 20 - 11:48 AM (#4074174) Subject: BS: Working at home - covid 19 From: Bonzo3legs If you were (are) required to work at home because of Covid 19, and your employer does not reimburse you additional expenses incurred, you can claim, through a Government Gateway account, expenses of £6 per week against your income, without any requirement to provide backup, which will be given for the rest of the tax year 2020/2021. Don't waste it!! |

05 Oct 20 - 03:30 AM (#4074361) Subject: RE: BS: Working at home - covid 19 - UK From: DMcG A friend visited on Saturday who works in a car showroom. He tells me they have taken three times as much so far this year than they did last year, even though there is still a quarter to go. It is hard to explain why but he suggested part of it is could be the amount people are saving by working at home rather than commuting into London. |

The commute to work and the social banter of a workplace is not insignificant in social well-being. |
07 Oct 20 - 10:26 AM (#4074619) Subject: RE: BS: Working at home - covid 19 - UK From: Bonzo3legs "the social banter of a workplace is not insignificant in social well-being" I agree, there are only 5 of us but I did miss the social banter while working at home from end March to beginning of August. It was great however to have a just a 30 second walk from breakfast chair to my PC. Now, I move my car, put my wife's car in it's place to keep the space on the road, then 15 minutes drive and a further 10 minutes to find a parking space, then up to 10 minutes to walk to the office. If I'm first in, then I carry out sanitising duties! |
