Well spotted, Bob. But we will have to celebrate at home. The pandemic would be a good subject for a Radio Ballad. |

I’m sure that lessons would have been learned from the 1962 Radio Ballad “The Body Blow” which dealt with polio, which was a major health problem at that time. I recall that a song to the rhythm and sound of an iron lung was a bit creepy. Ewan readily acknowledged that it was not to the same standard as most of the other Radio Ballads Bob Blair |

Both it and 'Manchester Rambler' mention Bleaklow, which was one of Ewan's favourite spots, and is a an hour or so's walk from my front door if you don't mind a bit of a climb. I always think of 'Rambler' when I 'see the white hare in the gully, and the curlew fly high over head', both of which are frequent occurrences up there. |

If you've read earlier posts, many people have portrayed him as a real sunnava b..... All I know is that he wrote some wonderful songs. introduced many of us to traditional ballads, and that he and Peggy gave some memorable concerts when they played at Harvard. |
