Nate Greening and the OTS of Folk Music

Hey Mudcatters,

Many of you are too young to remember much about the history of the Old Town School of Folk Music but it started in the living room of the Greening Family. Papa Nate Lofton was a cornerstone in the development of the School. He supported the original administrator, Dawn Greening under the chief administrator, Win Stracke. I was the head of the teaching program at it's inception.

If it weren't for Nate, there would not have been an Old Town School.

Anyway, Nate Greening is in the advanced stages of matasticized cancer. He is online at nrgreenin@bwn.net.

I don't like to see this fine guy ignored at a time of need.

Frank

I second the motion Frank. Nate Greening was always there to help Dawn though all of those heady early days at the Old Town School Of FOLK MUSIC. A great man who deserves all of our best wishes at this hard time for him.

Nate, we love you---and thank you ! Love to you and the "kids" who slept all over our house in Oregon during a terrible storm off the ocean back in '67 even though you'd wanted to camp out. Dawn and you and Wendy and Lance (and spouse) and my Carol and I had a fine time making do with what we had. Great memories! I've still got a photo of all around a picnic table.

Be well my friend,

Art and Carol Thieme
(Yep, still together after these 33 years.)

Thanks for letting us know, Frank. Caroline and I visited Nate and Dawn in Fort Collins not long before Dawn died. As always, Nate looked healthy, young (despite the prematurely grey hair), vigorous and slim. It's hard to think of him as suffering a spreading cancer! We'll get a private note off to him right away.
