I have a CD of music of the accordionist Flaco Jimenez, and on several tracks, where the liner notes should have the composer's name, it just says, DAR. Is that some kind of abbreviation or Spanish for "Traditional", or "Public Domain"? |

The people who produced the CD? Are they claiming authorship? I'm planning to play these tracks on the radio, and I want to know what to write on the logsheet in the "composer" column. |

Searching for one of the songs is how I found out what D. A. R. stood for – the allmusic site credits D. A. R. as the composer of an inordinate number of songs, as if it was a person, but the page also expanded the abbreviation. Leeneia, I should have thought of that. I'll try to contact someone at the station, after the weekend. RA, yes, "Copyright control" sounds about right (although I never really understood what that meant, either!). |
