It is just a story of how he was hired to track down a stolen banjo...not a biography or anything. I will mail to anyone in US who wants it. First come, first served. I also have an MP3 of him singing a song about Blackbeard the pirate. PM me if you would like a copy and give me your email. mg |

He and his bride Victoria were and amazing coupe. Good singers and song writers, both of them. I have read the book. bb(deckman)nelson |

16 May 22 - 09:16 PM (#4141906) Subject: RE: for friends of Pat Garvey From: Thomas Stern The book THE MUSIC DETECTIVE by Pat Garvey says it is "part memory, part made up". Quite interesting bits about people and places a musician on the road will identify with. Names of many music venues, I assume to be from his memory. Quite interesting section about Lionel Killberg. Member ot THE SHANTY BOYS (Mike Cohen (guitar), Lionel Kilberg ('Brownie' bass) and Roger Sprung (banjo) recorded one album for Elektra, EKL 142 Off Beat Folksongs. Owner of the Shoostryng label which recorded a bunch of albums Sociologically Singing, and the first recording of Kate Wolf !!! Anyone else who has read it ? Comments ?? Thomas. |
