Tony Cuffe - Cairn o Mount.

Does anyone have the LP “Sae Will We Yet” by Tony Cuffe?

I’m particularly interested in any notes that that deal with the song “Cairn o Mount” that is on this LP.

I know that Tony wrote the tune and the words {some of them) come from a poem by Alexander Balfour but if there’s any further info on the sleeve or insert then I’d be grateful if some could put them on a post.

Thanks

It's on the Album ' Sae Will We yet ' on Greentrax, with a lot of information, you can find this on line.

Is that "As I came ower the Cairney Mount"? In the Merry Muses of Caledonia? (Tune: "Kate Dalrymple").

Bob, the notes on Tony Cuffe's CD are rather terse:

A song developed by Tony from the poem first published by Alexander Balfour (1767-1829) of Monikie, Perthshire in 1820. Brig o’ Dye, Cairn o’ Mount, Clochnaben (now Clachnaben) and the River Dee are all in rural Aberdeenshire.

Wow Tony sure wrote some great melodies (The Road to Drumlemen!). I've always liked that track but didn't realize it was his tune. The guitar part is classic Cuffe, and I think melodically/harmonically it reminds me a lot of his version of Jamie Raeburn with Ossian.
