Lyr Req: With Roger My Spaniel

Many years ago a friend of mine sang a version of Y Viva Espana using the phrase "with Roger my spaniel" (last line of chorus - "My spaniel's paws are sore"). We've lost touch, can anyone help me find the lyrics please?

I am reminded of a song I once heard on a campsite at Cambridge Folk Festival, with the words:

Last year I went to Sunny Spain,
With Rover the Spaniel.
The Spaniards wouldn't let him on the plane,
Not Rover the Spaniel.
So he did his doggy paddle cross the main -
My spaniel's paws are sore.'

It's disappointing not to find a spaniel-rogering shanty in this thread.

Thanks guys - the Mudcat connection strikes again! Through another route I have found a version originally collected I'm told from a member of Pilgrim Morris:

This year I'm off to sunny Spain. With Rover, my spaniel.
I'm taking the Costa Brava plane. With Rover, my spaniel.
But, they won't let Rover on the plane. Not Rover, my spaniel.
So, we walked it all the way to Spain. My Spaniel's paws are sore.

I think the mention in the third verse of the original song that "every dog must have his lucky day" may have spawned this addition to the folk tradition - Cheers!

Lovely job everyone! And by the way, if anyone comes across a version in the future using Roger not Rover, they may be able to trace it back to me, watch this space!
