What print folk magazines exist in 2021?

Subject: What print folk magazines exist in 2021? (UK)
From: GUEST,matt milton

I'm really interested to know what print magazines there are in the UK that cover traditional folk music.

I can think of:

English Dance and Song
Living Tradition
RnR (Rock and Reel)
Songlines (to an extent)

What regional/small folk publications in the UK are there? I only know Tykes Stirrings but there must be more.

I'd also be interested to hear about other countries too. I'm aware of Sing Out in the US.
In Canada there's Penguin Eggs...

Thanks all

In Australia we have one magazine, Trad and Now, which started way back in 2002 as a large glossy, but was taken over after 15 issues by a local community newspaper publisher after the original publisher was unable to continue & is now a small publication. It doesn't have enough coverage of my kind of folk for me to subscribe, but when I see an issue I'll flip thru & read a couple of articles. It's available from selected paper shops across the country as well as by subscription.

Description in google - traditional and contemporary folk, blues, roots, bluegrass and world music, dance and poetry magazine.

Description from National Library of Australia catalogue - The Australian-wide folk magazine celebrating culture, community and creativity. News, reviews and information on traditional & contemporary music, dance, storytelling and reports on live performances.

Unfortunately Penguin Eggs’ current issue is its final issue.

We have Folk NorthWest up here in the erm, north west! That's NW of England. In reality it covers an area up to Carlisle and down to Stoke, so there's a broad geographical remit. It's a quarterly publication available on the desks of member clubs of the North West Federation Of Folk Clubs. Grand-sounding but despite the set-out aims of support and liason, its main raison d'etre is the magazine. Reviews of live gigs, albums, diary and chatroom all in one. A worthy old thing that's been going since the '70s. The adverts mainly cover costs and even in lockdown a small print run for subscribers has ensured publication of pocket editions.

Thanks to all who've posted replies so far.

Gutted to hear Penguin Eggs is folding - I was thinking of subscribing.

I used to subscribe to Stirrings even though I live nowhere near its constituency (I'm a Londoner), I just thought it was a great little magazine. I really should subscribe to TykesStirrings.

Do keep em coming!

Unicorn magazine, a quarterly covering Beds, Bucks, Cambs & Herts, was in a parlous state last time I looked.
The last few issues have been online only, with the intention of returning to hard copy eventually. Maybe by "print magazines", the OP specifically meant to exclude such.

Well, yes, when it comes to online only I'm aware of loads. Always keen to hear of more of course. But it was print that I was more interested in.

Around Kent Folk is still running though, understandably, there has been a reduced print run during the pandemic and lockdowns. Before this, the magazine was starting to broaden its editorial area into Surrey and Sussex.
There is also a link from that home page to facsimile on-line editions.

An earlier post mentioned Sing Out! but I'm pretty sure it is no longer published, or at least no longer published in hard copy. It appears that its website is updated every once in a long while, but I'm pretty sure that the magazine does not exist even in a digital format. Below is a link to the most current hard copy edition being sold on its website which is the Spring 2014 edition.
