If I play it, it's always with more minor chords. This is my absolute favorite way. It pokes at the emotions.

If you cut and paste that (next message above) into notepad, the words and chords should line up as I intended. Or if you use a font like courier new

The chord pattern, above, looks familiar. The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem used these verses (as close as memory serves):
