Lyr/Chords Req: Wild Mountain Thyme

Have the words; but need chords keyed to lyrics, so one verse and chorus will do. Thanks a lot.

Try these:

D G D
Oh the summertime is coming

G D
And the trees are sweetly blooming

G D Bm
And the wild mountain tyme

Em G
Grows around the purple heather

Beautiful song and one of my favorites.

Here's James Taylor's version

Wild Mountain Thyme

If I play it, it's always with more minor chords. This is my absolute favorite way. It pokes at the emotions.

       D       G      D
I will build my love a bower

             G          F#m
'Neath yon' pure crystal fountain

    G    F#m    Bm
And on it I will pile

         Em       D/F#    G
All the flowers of    the mountain

         D   G       D
Will ye go, lassie, go

          G      F#m
And we'll all go together

          G    F#m      Bm
To pluck wild mountain thyme

       Em          D/F# G
All around the bloomin' heather

         D   G       D
Will ye go, lassie, go

If you cut and paste that (next message above) into notepad, the words and chords should line up as I intended. Or if you use a font like courier new

    Is it better now, Dan?

The chord pattern, above, looks familiar. The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem used these verses (as close as memory serves):

Oh, the summer time is coming'
And the trees are sweetly blooming,
And the wild mountain thyme,
Grows around the blooming heather.

Will ye go, lassie go,
And we'll all go together,
To pluck wild mountain thyme,
All around the blooming heather,
Will ye go, lassie, go?

I will build my love a bower,
Near yon pure crystal fountain,
And on it I will grow,
All the flowers of the mountain,

C:

If my true love, she should go,
I would surely find another,
Where the wild mountain thyme,
Grows around the blooming heather.
