I took a French language course from Donald Thaler in the late 1960s in Erie, PA, his home town. A brilliant man—and unforgettable.

He changed my life. He did such a splendid job in utterly emersing this student in the significance of historical periods, the prevailing thinkers of the time, their influence upon the economies, military actions, the development of feudal states in the apex of the dark ages, the impact of theology upon architecture and social delelopment. His story should only be told in the use of superlatives for the passion his studentsin their love of history concieved in their minds and hearts through his great lectures. I am eternally to him forcultivating my eternal love of history. It has been 44 years Sir and I will sing your praises till I draw my last breath. Thank you dear Sir. Michael Weeks.
