De Dannan song with 'Heng Heng'

De Dannan had a song, almost a cappella, something with water, with a recurring "Heng Heng". If I remember correctly, it was in English.
Rings a bell with anyone?

Would be grateful

You may be thinking of Dolores Keane's mouthmusic. Not sure though she recorded it with Dedannan though although she may have done it in concert with them. It's on one of her older recordings.

I thought the same as Peter. Dolores Keane and John Faulkner. Now that I've found a recording to listen to it again, I'm sure that's what Michal is looking for

Has anyone emailed him?

Didn't the Bothy Band record a version of this? Or ... was it DeDannan? One of the bands of that ilk did, back in the '70s ....

Here is another recording of "Horo Haradalda" by Dolores Keane and John Faulkner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK9CTi3e_z4
Craig Cockburn writes: "The name of this song is "Dance to Your Shadow" words Kenneth Macleod, arranger Marjorie Kennedy-Fraser, tune anonymous and collected in Eigg from Marion Macleod, Kenneth’s elder sister."

As Sung by Christine and Matthew Weir
Horo haradala horo
haradala horo haradal heingi handan.
Dance to your shadow when it's good to be living lad
Dance to your shadow when there's nothing better near x2

Horo haradala horo
haradala horo haradal heingi handan.

I've never thought this song sounds very Scottish; the vocables sound Oriental to me!

Hin hin haradala hin hin haradala hin hin haradal hin haradal ho x2
There are tunes in the River Otter, pools in the river Water
pools in the river, and the river calls him x2

Hin hin haradala hin hin haradala hin hin haradal hin haradal ho x2

Horo haradala horo
haradala horo haradal heingi handan

You're right; that's the one I was thinking of. But I am familiar with this one from someone's recording, of that era ....

When Dolores and John Faulkner recorded this, the band was called "The Reel Union". It's on the recording "Broken Hearted I'll Wander".
Nothing at all to do with the Bothy Band, nor De Danann.
