It is with much sadness that I have to inform you that Hazel Bolton, “Nutty” to most of her Mudcat friends, died peacefully, on Saturday afternoon, 4th September, after a short illness. Our feelings are with Hazel’s family and friends. Further details of arrangements will be made known in due course, or contact Marion and Me on 07885 543925

Ken Hall (Whitby)

Now that is sad. Hazel was a "firm friend" to so many in the folk community, and she will be much missed. Rest easy indeed.

I remember her from Yorkshire and Euro Mudgathers and from Whitby Folk Week – a lovely person who had many physical ailments to deal with but remained positive. This is sad news indeed.

She was very kind and supportive when I went to Mickleby and made a complete utter pigs ear of trying to sing a song. It was an important learning experience. Always appreciated it.

I am very sorry to hear that. Hazel was one of the most friendly and encouraging people I met when I first went to Saltburn FF. I still have the handout from her workshop and two of her CDs. I always thought I'd see her again. Bless her.

Very sad news indeed. I remember Hazel from her Mudcat posts back in the day, her presence on Paltalk and meeting in person at the 2001 Yorkshire gathering. I don't remember her ever expressing a negative thought and she had a great wit to boot.

RIP, Nutty.

When I emigrated Hazel made sure that I had both her CDs so I could sing her songs down here in New Zealand.
We took the first shift at Whittlebury together for quite a few years. Such fun!
She will be very much missed.
