14 Nov 21 - 11:12 AM (#4126123) Subject: Folklore: The battle of Bamber Bridge From: Dave the Gnome I think this is folklore now but if anyone disagrees, please feel free to move it This linked article in Wiki tells of the outbreak of racial violence between Black and White American servicemen stationed in the British village of Bamber Bridge, Lancashire in June 1943. I spotted it while following a completely different topic. As often happens when you chase the white rabbit down a hole! I may have mentioned it elsewhere but I think it deserves a topic of it's own. "The traditional beliefs, customs, and stories of a community, passed through the generations by word of mouth. ‘The time is the 1920s, and Hurston the character is in town to collect local folklore.’
