kat, can you find a site that translates Glaswegian into English? There are whole sections of the Crucifixion sketch that I canna' make any sense of -- and I have spent chunks of time in Scotland. A Connolly dictionary would be a Godsend (e.g. a wee jobbie = )

Well, Peter, up this sleeve I have, aha! Summat wich ma huip(?) yoo, noo:

Gaelic Dictionaries or:

http://www.ceantar.org/Dicts/index.html

Wirdleit(wordlist) for quick and easy lookups or:

http://www.umist.ac.uk/UMIST_CAL/Scots.wirdleit.htm

same site, Scots grammar/handbuik or:

http://www.umist.ac.uk/UMIST_CAL/Scots/handbuik.htm

And then for the biggie, which I learned about here at the Mudcat:

On-Line Dictionaries-EXTENSIVE!! or:

www.facstaff.bucknell.edu/rbeard/diction.html

which will lead you to:

dialects or:

http://www.facstaff.bucknell.edu/rbeard/diction4.html#dialects

and:

Slang or:

www.facstaff.bucknell.edu/rbeard/diction5.html#slang

And, just for some fun using some of the colloquialisms I found, take a peek at this essay from a Glasgow paper. It's hillarious on politiclaly correctness:

PC Humour Essay

Think my new business will do good?**BG**

Why thank yew, darlin', but it was PeterT who was looking for translations, mostly. The site I posted the Welly Boot song from had them in understandable language. Those lyrics are in the Bert, Started A Song for you thread.

I had forgotten to mention to Peter that he could probably just ask you or Heather, sheesh, talk about going right ot the Source!**BG**

Thanks, anyway, guid ta see ya on here, anyway.

katlaughing with a small "k", as there is another Kat on here, thanks
