13 Jan 22 - 01:18 AM (#4132200) Subject: RE: Bert Lloyd singing Laszlo Feher / Anathea From: Joe Offer I wasn't able to find a Bert Lloyd recording. I did find a Hungarian recording of "Fehér László balladája" with an entirely different melody: And another: Here's an English-language version by "Boxer John" which does not use the usual Judy Collins melody (but it doesn't use the Hungarian melody, either): The song was collected by Bela Bartok, and A.L. Lloyd translated it into English. Was Bert Lloyd also the composer of the melody Judy Collins made popular? -Joe- |

I am sure Dave Bryant was correct |
13 Jan 22 - 06:07 AM (#4132222) Subject: RE: Bert Lloyd singing Laszlo Feher / Anathea From: Susan of DT I heard a Hungarian group sing it to the same tune Judy Collins used. They did not seem to be aware of the English version, so it is likely that tune is the "original". |
