Here are some examples, but we've seen all these and need new, but similar ideas: Time Team - British Isles archeology Bob Ross - painting scenic oils Julian Baumgartner - art restoring Tim Traveller - jaunts to odd places in Europe Rick Steves - trips to Europe Rudy Whatshisname (Rudy Maxa??? He's good.) - ditto RV er TV - nice American guy details his trips across America Sister Wendy - art history No violence. No cute dogs and cats. No celebrities. No politics. Any suggestions? |

I "linkified" everything on your list, and I think I did a pretty good job. I had trouble with what came up first on Sister Wendy, and the link I added to your post has a low-resolution video. But DiMarco Documentaries (click) has some high-resolution Sister Wendy videos that are really good. I bought a number of Sister Wendy videos, and some aren't very good resolution. 05 Aug 22 - 01:15 AM (#4149335) Subject: RE: BS: need YouTube series ideas From: Stanron If you might like radio, as well as TV, and can access the BBC archive on Iplayer then there are several series by a guy called Melvyn Bragg which are real 'food for the brain'. The one I remember was called 'In Our Time'. These were half hour discussion programs. He chaired a panel who were experts on the chosen subject. Amazing programs on a wide ranging set of subjects from Philosophy, Arts and Science. There were other series as well. One I think was about language and on TV he had a series called 'The South Bank Show'. If you can find them you might like them. |

We enjoy Tim, but we have to slow him down to understand him, and we turn on the captions so we can read along. Plus, he starts every video with an enthusiastic HELLO! which is so loud it hurts my ears. We go past that, then turn the audio on. Yesterday we watched a video about a tunnel which a duke ordered dug so carriages could get to his castle. It was dug through a sandstone ridge. The only problem was that the slope is 1/12, and horses cannot pull a carriage up that. Who knew? We marveled at all that effort for naught, for lack of such simple knowledge. Being geologists, we also studied the sandstone. |

I don't know if they are available on YouTube. The second one is a history of life on Earth illustrated using space photos and videos. Some of the footage is from satellite surveillance from about 50 years ago compared with the same area today so it shows the changes over time. |

His asides are reminiscent of the robot. He makes it interesting, as much as informative. Particularly his rants on ABN (Almost Breaking News). |

IT's basically a Native American clip show hosted by Patrick Willy who is also a champion hoop dancer. I've learned so much about modern Native culture including what an incredible sense of humor they share. I live in a region where there aren't many Natives so this fills a need. From the beginning of You-tube I've always felt like this ability to absorb other cultures is its best feature. |
