'That'll be the day', 'Peggy Sue', Not Fade Away'.. the drumming made those songs hits. No Crickets, it would be a lesser Beatles and a myriad of other artists. Holly gets most of the idolisation, but it was the whole way his songs came together with the backing of Jerry's drumming that made them hits. The Crickets would later go on to be a great group without Holly, and Sonny Curtis added to the line up. All original Crickets are now gone (though Sonny Curtis is still here at the current time). |
