There was a charming video out with classically-trained flutist Lizzo playing the James Madison crystal flute this week in Washington, D.C. Library of Congress tweet.

Also from the LOC

On stage brief tones from flute

Another tweet.

Story from NPR: Lizzo played James Madison's crystal flute onstage in D.C., proving history rocks

While poking around I found The Smithsonian’s fine instruments are for playing, not for looking at from 2016.

The music people and folklorists at the Library of Congress are incredibly generous. In 2014, I went to the Library with Dani Black, Abby Sale, and Amos Jessup. We had such a nice visit with the staff of the American Folklife Center, and we got to see the library's Stradivarius collection.
