”My dear and old friend Rab Noakes has died suddenly in hospital today. I am shocked. We had so much in common - The Everly Brothers, the Flying Burrito Brothers and an enduring love of songs, particularly traditional music. Sleep well, Rab. May you rest in peace. Bx”

RIP Rab.

Great guy. Rab had so much knowledge on the history of popular music. A super singer & songwriter, he was always friendly and so down to earth. The world has lost someone special. Goodbye mate, we’re going miss you big time.

Sad news indeed.
Met him first when Marsden Rattlers were spending a lot of time with the wonderful members of the Great Fife Road Show in the 60s.

I hear he went to see Bob Dylan on two consecutive nights recently- Dylan was always his favourite but I'll always be grateful for introducing me to the classic Byrds LP- 'Sweetheart of the Rodeo'

RIP old pal

His tribute song to Alex Campbell "Gently Does It" always gets me.
