Mudcat Search issues - answers

Subject: Tech: DT search gives error
From: GUEST,Jack Sprocket

Every search I try, no matter what settings, whether DT, Forum or both, gives "Error An error occurred while executing the application. Please try again or contact the administrator."

Is anyone else getting this? Windows 7 and Firefox.

The Cat's primary search is broken awhile. Please see this other thread for alternative search methods.

Hope this helps.

The simplest solution is to Google "mudcat.org" + whatever you're looking for.

Was I doing something stupid? - I put in a search term "songs for Burns night" (Not sure if it required a ' in Burns' so I tried a search for just "Burns") - all I got in both cases was "An error occurred while executing the application. Please try again or contact the administrator."

Maybe it's an age thing - ?

SJ

Yes, it's an age thing, But not your age.

Search is broken. It's been broken for ages.

Use google - just add site:mudcat.org to whatever you're searching for.

If the powers that be could see a way to deleting the inoperative search facility, or attaching a warning to it, then it would cease to cause people to waste their time starting new threads like this one, and other people to waste their time telling them not to do so, which seems to happen several times a week.

For some subjects ('Burns Night' is a good example) the thread filter works and can give good results.

Just above where the threads list starts theres a box marked Filter.
- Type burns night in the box
- Change Age 7 Days to All
- Click Refresh
