I received the sad news this evening from Glenn that Anna died of cancer this past August. annap and Glenn hosted one of the first Mudcat gatherings at their former home near the Jersey Shore. They held a second one a few months later. It was at one of the gatherings that I first met the late Bill Sables. It was due to annap's gathering that the seeds were planted for what some labeled, Bill and Allan's Excellent Adventure-Y2k . In fact, one of the final stops on that grand tour of ten thousand miles, was at Anna and Glenn's house where Bill and I were treated like royalty! I will always be grateful to Anna and Glenn for their generous hospitality.

The official blickifier has a blind spot. Here's the corrected URL for Bill and Allan's Excellent Adventure-Y2k; hope that helps.

It's on the classic "Anthems in Eden" album by Shirley & Dolly Collins.

I was at the second one, too. I was also at Glenn & Anna's wedding on the beach.
Too many people gone.

annap was the most gracious host, generous with time and attention and all the rest of ways. She had the most beautiful piece of property and hosted many of get togethers and gatherings of which I attended several. It was no surprise to find good people around her, the local folks and neighbors blended right in with us weird old folkies, and added something interesting to flavor as we jammed till dawn. Everything always all around her was easy, never hurried or stressed or awkward.

I was honored to be at her wedding and had a smashing good time, nearly scandalous memories and stories forevermore to be sure. She loved Glen like crazy.

I think it was her place dick greenhaus tried to teach me how to sail, the lesson ending with him declaring it can't be done. I'll never forget how he looked at me after that, like "How after so many years knowing him did I not realize this boy was so dumb"... but you know, in a loving way. I've never tried to sail again.

And I believe it was there that Sam and Ian saw their first American beach. They were grown by then of course, but they had the glee of little boys as they ran to the water. Made a mark on me that moment. That's what it's all about. And that's what kept happening at Anna's, the stuff that it's really about. Those moments made, that was her.

I also remember driving home from her home one time and catching the New Jersey Expressway instead of the New Jersey Turnpike or vice versa, and ending up in Atlantic City instead of Philadelphia. As luck would have it Ray Charles was performing and I got to see him just that one time, which was one of the greatest performances I'd ever seen. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Perfection on a stage, magical backup singers.

I'll never forget annap, caretaker of the highest of times, the stuff of life, the maker of moments, facilitator of the greatest things, introducer of the greatest folks. The teacher of easy living to let it all happen. Goodnight.

Am I correct that annap became Annamill when she got married to Glen?
