From the Australian Broadcasting Company news website, concerning the recent plane crash in Nepal:

Among the confirmed Nepali victims of the crash was folk singer Nira Chhantyalm, who was travelling to Pokhara to perform the following day.

She was known for combining traditional Nepali music with modern social media trends like lip-syncing, gaining her more than 100,000 followers on her TikTok account.

She posted a message on Facebook celebrating the Nepali festival of Maghe Sankranti less than an hour before the crash.

I wasn't at all familiar with this singer, nor with Nepalese music in general. I have to say that the video I'm listening to sounds very modern.

"Coming from Baglung district of Nepal, the singer lived in Kathmandu and was on her way to grace an event in Pokhara for the Nepalese festival of Maghe Sankranti. She shared the same on her Facebook informing her fans of her visit. Nira’s last Facebook post was also wishing all her fans the best on the auspicious occasion of Maghe Sankranti. Extending her love to all living in the country and abroad."

- 68 of the 72 passengers on the plane are known to have died, according the the last news report I heard. Such a tragedy for them, their families, and their friends.
