The Cat brought me a real high this week when Penny S. mentioned in the Rolling Home thread that we were the highlight of her week during the eclipse here in Cornwall. Best wishes Baz. |

19 Jan 00 - 07:49 PM (#165512) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: Bill D Max...since you say you track IP#s, why not get display them next to our names? That would not STOP 'anons'...but it could allow a lot of verification |

19 Jan 00 - 07:58 PM (#165520) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: catspaw49 HEY MAX/BERT/MARTMAC!!!! Play the song "La Sol Fa" off of Fielding's new album...all about shape note singing and a "rookies" experience. Spaw |

19 Jan 00 - 08:07 PM (#165522) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: Lonesome EJ Spaw, that was a tough one to resist, but I have a new policy of being nice to ALL Mudcatters, including ones that don't deserve it. For more info, see my personal message LEJ |

19 Jan 00 - 08:12 PM (#165523) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: Max I will not display IP#s. It kind of gives hackers an invitation. They are recorded, and thats all we need to take action.
I will play "La Sol Fa" only if I can have dibs on Rick's Martin (the one that Ani Difranco scratched up). |
|
19 Jan 00 - 08:15 PM (#165524) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: catspaw49 You'll have to read the thread Max, but that may be a possibility...We're negotiating with Martin for a "Special Edition" in honor of the departed Rick...maybe have a dead possum at the 12th fret. We can getcha one of those for sure. Spaw |

19 Jan 00 - 09:52 PM (#165569) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: Alice I'm listening to it now, Max, and it is the most uninterrupted stream of Mudcat Radio that I have heard so far. Good job. I'll have to go back and listen to last week's now. When I tried before there was too much congestion. Thanks for getting this set up and sharing it with everyone. alice |

20 Jan 00 - 12:38 AM (#165620) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: Rick Fielding Who's departed? I just work for a living! If you'd have the darn radio program on Tuesdays I could tune in occasionally. By the way the guitar that Ani scratched up was my Lowden. I'm still honoured. A friend of mine has toured with her for a few years now. He LOVES it! She's a great boss apparently. By the way "Fa Sol La" was written by Ottawa's Shelly (sheldon) Posen, and he says it's a true story. If you did(or do) play it Max, Thanks. Rick |

20 Jan 00 - 11:38 AM (#165733) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: JedMarum Max, Bert et al - The Quill crowd loved the show. Thanks for making the hook up possible. We look forward to calling in again, sometime, and to continue developing our 'plot' to get y'all down to Texas to do a live Mudcat broadcast. Great show! |

20 Jan 00 - 04:50 PM (#165832) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: Jon Freeman Biil D, I have noted Max's comments but also, the IP business is not always that straight forward. I for one legitmately use 2 ISP's from my computer at home. The reason is one costs me for the local phone calls but carries a news server - more convenient than Deja News and the other doesn't carry a news server but costs me nothing at night time and during the weekend but again costs me a local call at other times. I can and do post to Mudcat using both my FreeUK and Sreaming accounts. Add to that, in both cases the IP numbers are allocated dynamically... does get a little confusing. Jon |
|
20 Jan 00 - 05:07 PM (#165839) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: Jon Freeman Bill D, To add to that, both of my ISP's do insist on my caller ID being sent when I connect so looking from the other side. Max logging IP numbers should therefore be able to trace any of my posts down to my home phone number (I don't use and hacking methods...) if there was ever a need and probably get my account(s) closed if I was in breach of their rules (offensive postings etc). I can't imagine that ever happening with me but it can be done. Trouble is, I could then just get another account... It is sad when things like this get discussed and it seems to me that, as with all things in life, a small minortiy seem to do thier best to wreck things for the rest... and I feel sure that Max would simply wish that these matters simply didn't exist. 20 Jan 00 - 05:12 PM (#165842) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: Jeri I was happily listening to the radio and chatting when it appeared people were getting dumped out of chat. Then the radio went, and I thought it crashed. I checked a few other websites, couldn't get anything and thought "Oh, damn - the whole internet blew up!" Shortly after that, it dawned on me the whole world wasn't screwed up, it was just me. I was internet-less for the rest of the night. Now I'm back and listening to the archived show - YEEHAH! |

20 Jan 00 - 06:12 PM (#165870) Subject: RE: Radio: Episode 18 - 'Sick of This' From: GUEST,Mbo You're not the only one, Jeri! The 'net gave me the ol' 'eave 'o at about 8:10. The internet wouldn't let me connect for another 2 hours--it kept giving me that stuff about "the line is busy." Yeah right. --Mbo |
